Thank you! May 8, 2007

Stuff from Steph , 4 comments by Angel and Woozers.

I want to say a big thank you to everyone who prayed for the requests in my last post.

The Lord answered each and every one…He is so wonderful!

The Lord supplied for getting us to wordstock….we’re here!

We found the tickets we needed.

He gave us the perfect place for our blob of a home – not just one house but two.

And I’m about to go to sleep! Yay

I love you. Thank you for praying.

(From Steph)

There is so much going on right now I feel like a mouse in a malfunctioning pinball machine that’s inside a washing machine that’s stuck on a roller coast on a comet racing through the sky.

I need your prayers for this stuff…

Wordstock, supply.
Tickets, finding the right ones.
A house, we need one.
Sleep, that I can.

Thank you so much. I love you.

My awesome big sister has been on the field of South Africa for over a year now. She does all manner of godly Family stuff and makes all manner of sacrifices and if you haven’t met her, take my word for it, she’s The Bomb on pretty much every level! In addition to being The Bomb, she’s also a slightly cracked nut, and as such, she’s determined that she’s going to get four of the teens in her Home to Wordstock IV.

Well, actually the Lord told her to, so blame Him. Which brings me to the point of this post and that is; help Launch Steph and her young Paduans to Wordstock! Yes, I know its unoriginal, and she didn’t ask me to do this, but if you can find it in your heart to send a few coins her way, I know the Lord will repay you in marvelous ways. I’m just gonna put it out there and say that they need $9,000 (see what I mean by cracked nut?) for tickets and fees. If there’s any way you can help towards that, you’ll have made four teens on the field four eternally grateful teens on the field! You can contact her to arrange the transfer of the fruits of your generosity at write2steph@gmail.com

And if you can’t send mulah, can you at least pray for them? Really, tell your friends, start a prayer chain, pray for it after devotions and during get-out and any time you think about it. Claim those really grandiose keys, the ones that include words like “no impossibilities”, “supernatural”, and “beyond imagination”. If they’re going to make it, they’re going to need UBER amounts of prayer and I’m counting on you!

Thanks guys! You’re a wonderful Family and if you’re not in The Family then by golly, join us as soon as you can so you can be part of it too! Amen?

They’re so cute! How can you refuse?

Jesus loves me!

I’ve been on a quest for sometime looking for shoes but so far in this lovely land they do not make shoes in my size. I guess everyone in the country has smaller feet then me……I am ashamed. :P However the day of miracles is not passed.

Yesterday while in route to some waterfalls we stopped at this tiny town to buy some ice for our beer which had almost reach boiling point and here is where it happened. While wandering and waiting for the ice I spied a nice pair of sandals in a window. Upon entering I ask the dear ancient lady behind the desk for the largest size they have….ahem. (Yes, I do have large feet, it kind of runs in the family)

She fumbles in the back and brings them out and miracle of miracles they fit! “Do you have these in black?” I ask the ancient lady who now looks more like a rescuing angel. She nods yes. And so ends my happy tale, I got the shoes; they fit, in the right color AND for a very good price. So yes Jesus loves me!

Here’s the shoes

And here’s the waterfall.

Happy 2007 everyone! Someone in our home came up with a brilliant idea for new years which I feel I must share with you. While discussing how we wanted to do our candlelight service we all agreed on one thing – to keep it short and sweet. Many people have hazy memories of long and drawn out candlelight services that seemed to last forever and ever……

So here’s how it went, each person got a sparkler and you could only talk for as long as your sparkler lasted once lit. It was just enough time to say what you were thankful for in the past year and a short praise to Jesus. It kept the attention of our multitude of children which was miraculous!

Sean 2yrs. after lighting his says sparkler says “I’m most thankful for my teddy bear because I always cuddle it”

We celebrated the remainder of the evening with 7 kilos of provisioned firecrackers, rockets and cheap Chinese gunpowder flares. Tis was fun and the only one who didn’t appreciate the festivities was our neighbor’s dog who spent the evening cowering in our living room.

There’s a new category on this here blog, folks, and I hope you’re as excited as I am!

My older sister Steph, dedicated missionary on the field of South Africa, crazy loon and all around cool puppy, has been made an honorary member of this blog with a category all her own. Don’t expect her to be prolific, but do expect genius. I give you Steph!

Attack of the Spores

Yes, it’s that wonderful time of year when summer comes, bringing with it 80% humidity and a full-on greenhouse effect. One morning you wake up and you notice everything looks a slightly different color; even your shoes in the cupboard have changed. On closer inspection you realize that no, someone didn’t leave a green pair of sandals in your closet but your favorite pair of leather shoes have been attacked – attacked by the spores and are now covered in a soft fuzzy blanket of mold.

Mold is now our favorite subject seeing as our house has turned into one large and evolving science project. It makes for a great teaching aid, “Come kids, lets see how many types of mold we can identify then afterwards we can go mushroom picking!” You see mushrooms are now growing out of our stairs, quite the variety too, although no one has been tempted to eat them….yet.

Ahhh summer time! Don’t worry though, the entire country is not like this just where we live in a small pocket resembling the garden of Eden where the ground is always covered with dew, your laundry never really dries and if you’re the type who’s never been able to keep a plant alive…well drop by for a visit. All you have to do is leave whatever substance you wish to grow out for one day and by the next it will have started sprouting. Satisfaction guaranteed! If you do decide to visit we’ll advise you not to lean up against any walls because they act like sponges and will release water under even the slightest amount of pressure although we do provide umbrella’s on request.

Thankfully though, we are soon to leave our fungus farm for higher and hopefully drier ground. If not so fun at least living here has been educational in a creepy moldy kind of way.
