Rally, rally my friends! December 2, 2007

Foolishness , trackback

If I didn’t already have a cause that I’m dedicating my life to, I would take up this one:

bancomicsans.com

We are summoning forth the proletariat around the globe to aid us in this revolution. We call on the common man to rise up in revolt against this evil of typographical ignorance. We believe in the gospel message “ban comic sans.” It shall be salvation to all who are literate. By banding together to eradicate this font from the face of the earth we strive to ensure that future generations will be liberated from this epidemic and never suffer this scourge that is the plague of our time.

Amen and amen! Comic sans immediately puts me in a bad mood, I thought I was weird but now I know I’m not the only one and this has made me happy!

Are you kidding?

I birthed this revolution.

Me.

I did.

Viva!

2. Luca - December 2, 2007

That does seen like a worthy cause, even if I have used comic sans a few times in my life. Of course it was for clown/children related fliers so appropriately used.

BAN COMIC SANS!!!

That is so funny - I honestly don’t get the hatred! :D
I use random (friendly) fonts, but have never had someone complain - though thinking about it, it’s not that they were really in the position to, but yeah, I used to type up the complaints from TRFs when XNs used random fonts that weren’t easy to read, but never Comic Sans.

I just don’t understand. To me it looks like a boring little font that is getting way to much attention.

Ooooh, I love fonts. Lurhve. Great affection.

5. Steph - December 3, 2007

Happy Halloween! So there.

6. Clara - December 3, 2007

hahaha. Made me laugh my head off. I would join you :)

7. Schwartzie - December 4, 2007

Haha. good stuff. If i had my choice though, Arial would be the first to go , followed closely by Times New Roman…. Viva Trebuchet MS!

8. Loxy - December 4, 2007

THANK YOU!

And why is it that every badly-done-mom-and-pop-shop sign uses this font? It disturbs the peace in my life.

9. julie (smith) - December 4, 2007

oh no sonia. its not a boring little font, its a curse. i never realised there were others that felt the same way!! i’m so happy for this because nyna tries to use it for the whats up and thats when i cringe becuz i cant stand it! 1000 hi fives and pats for this post.

Arial is a wonderful font as far as sans-serif typefaces go. Of course it’s a little plain, but that’s what makes it so versatile. It’s a font that truly looks good in any size.

I like Trebuchet MS too, but it’s limited to larger sizes as it tends to crowd together when you drop it below 11pt.

11. Michael Figaro - December 6, 2007

One word. WHY? Is your life really that void of substance that you dedicate it to getting rid of a font? How pathetic are you, I mean seriously?

12. Jules - December 6, 2007

Well Michael, you obviously didn’t read what I wrote so what can I say?

13. Michael Figaro - December 7, 2007

Yes, I did read it. And I’m going to go into that one, thats a discussion for another post.

But you still didn’t answer my question. Why? What is so horrible about a font? Thats like saying that I’m horrible because I am a Texan and I use the word “Y’ALL”.

14. Michael Figaro - December 7, 2007

oops, I meant “I’m NOT going to go into that one” Sorry.

15. Jules - December 7, 2007

Michael, I’m not answering because would prompt a response from you and you’ve been expelled from posting on my site. I’m just trying to make it easy for you to be good.

16. Anita - December 15, 2007

First of all, comic sans is not a bad font. It’s just overused, which means that obviously lots of people like it.
Secondly, the fact that we get off on posting about fonts just proves that we all spend way to much time at our computers.
And third point, what is with trebuchet? It’s long and ugly and worse than comic sans. I like garamond or it’s small but easy to read.
