The Stem dilema May 19, 2007

Foolishness , trackback

In keeping with the post-Wordstock flurry of Wordstock related posts popping up all over the Famblogs….someone help me with this.

Do you call the dude Steve or Stem?

Isn’t that like calling Jason or Dan “Red Sky”?

I’m confused, and yet if we’re encouraged to call him Stem - hey, I like it! It’s like a fun new thing - just thought I’d check….

Rumor has it…or so the Steve himself said in the YA class that he prefers Steve…and Stem is his band. Though other people told me otherwise during wordstock…so in a way I’m not sure.

I want to be called Mitsurugi. Any one? No one?

3. Joan - May 19, 2007

hahhhaha I only call steve “stem” to tease him.

4. Florence - May 20, 2007

STEM is actually a name that refers to Steve. STEphen Mcnair. STEM started out as sort of a foolish tentative DJ name. I don’t think he ever intended people to seriously know him by STEM.
Because all (or most) of Steve’s music is written, sung, produced, and basically orchestrated by him, the name of the “artist” or “band” of his first album was STEM because it was only him at the time (with Jesse playing the guitar for recordings). There was no band, so when people said STEM they were referring to him. Since then, in order to perform his songs, he had to make a band and bring in new band members, and because his music is already known under the name STEM, the band became called STEM. I’m sure that if they formed a band before the albums were made, the name would’ve been something entirely different.
I just killed the mystery didn’t I. All the interest is down the drain and now everyone knows the hard, cold facts about it.

Yo Liz

I’ll call you Mitsurugi if you call me “Your royal freshness”

Deal?

I call Steve STEM because everyone is Steve, but no one is STEM.

Amen?

ha ha ha…so much for your correction you gave me yesterday. I was right Jules. It’s fine to call Steve ‘Stem’.
God I love always being right :D

7. Ruthie - May 21, 2007

To many Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’s….

8. Jules - May 21, 2007

Thanks for the clarification Florence.

Paula, it’s “fine” to call him Stem, but is it the loving thing to do? That’s what you have to ask yourself. I think I’m still right.

Since we’re all in the mood for name-changing, I’d like to be PJ, officially.

Ok, that’s cool. Well Florence, I have to clarify, since you’re his sister, that when I wrote “I”m in love with STEM” on Steve’s T-shirt, I was referring to the band, not the guy. He had a shocked face after I wrote it, the poor guy. He was probably thinking, “How am I gonna let this girl down easy”. heh.
Speaking of Band names, Michael (Metanoya) came up with a great idea for my band’s name:

SafeHAVEN

(Read only what’s in Caps). Hehehehe

Haven, I wouldn’t have cared had you pounced on him and ripped his clothes off. He deserves some manhandling.
I didn’t get to see the I’m in love with STEM t-shirt. It sounds great, though. After you wear it a few more times you can put it up on ebay and get good money for it. A handmade STEM t-shirt from Wordstock worn by Haven? Lots of potential.

PTL what a victory! I had beans for breakfast.

Ok, not really but just throwing in some fresh thoughts.

Chuck, I love you. We need to talk amen?
