Happy 2007 everyone! Someone in our home came up with a brilliant idea for new years which I feel I must share with you. While discussing how we wanted to do our candlelight service we all agreed on one thing – to keep it short and sweet. Many people have hazy memories of long and drawn out candlelight services that seemed to last forever and ever……

So here’s how it went, each person got a sparkler and you could only talk for as long as your sparkler lasted once lit. It was just enough time to say what you were thankful for in the past year and a short praise to Jesus. It kept the attention of our multitude of children which was miraculous!

Sean 2yrs. after lighting his says sparkler says “I’m most thankful for my teddy bear because I always cuddle it”

We celebrated the remainder of the evening with 7 kilos of provisioned firecrackers, rockets and cheap Chinese gunpowder flares. Tis was fun and the only one who didn’t appreciate the festivities was our neighbor’s dog who spent the evening cowering in our living room.
