All grown up and buying used fridges! July 21, 2006

The Latest , trackback

I bought a fridge today!

Boring, yes…but it made me feel so grown up. I mean c’mon, how many of you bought a used fridge when you were 18? If I wasn’t so humble I’d be quite proud of me.

So anyway, our fridge at the office broke today, not to be outdone by our aircon, which broke down four days prior. Hot as blazes in what used to be a little corner of heaven. It’s not easy suffering for Christ’s sake, I tell you! I never realized just how much my productivity is dependent on my body tempeture.

So, feeling quite grown up, I proceded to research, drive, pick up, and install our new fridge all by my little lonesome. I must give credit where credit is due and salute Keith for moving the old one out and Justin for disposing of it…..and of course, the fridge guy, for delivering it….

There’s something very impowering about doing what should be a man’s job.

Just call me Wonder Woman.

(Why do I set myself up for humilation on the Internet?….my true friends won’t make fun of me….I think)

Henceforth ye shall be known as Saint Julia, our patron saint of refridgerators. It’s gotta ring to it!

Heh, yea, add that along with Princess and you’ve got the roster going on there.

I don’t know though, Princess Saint Wonder Woman Julia could have a nie ring…

Or would it be Saint Princess Wonder Woman Julia…

Or maybe Julia Saint Princess Wonder Woman…

Maybe Spanish sounds better (gotta start practicing) Princesa Santa Julia mujer de la maravilla…

Heh, I think my word-ordering is a little off, but I think that has a nice ring…

Okay, all kidding aside, I LOVE OUR NEW FRIDGE!!!! I’m proud of you for taking that initiative and going and picking it up. I’ve already hugged it twice…no, I’m serious, I hugged it. You should try it. (Okay, so It was emitting cold air and I wanted to be closer to the source…whatever. I loved it at the moment…)

Ha, Jules, you wouldn’t believe it, I thought I was the only one out there with this experience! Believe it or not, when I was 18, and first landed in Kathmandu (O beloved city) it was just dad and I supposed to be househunting and getting things set up for the rest of the ppl, and I picked out our fridge, and felt so proud of myself :) ! Course, Dad was around, as we were going 2×2 in a new and unfamiliar country, but I was the one who chose it, and picked the features I wanted, which couldn’t have been too complex, on our tight budget, but I was pleased with my selection, none the less!
So, I can honestly agree with you that it is a true milestone occasion!!!
You’re such a kindred spirit! Love you!
